Welcome to Iris Miyake.
Iris Miyake is an independent creative space devoted to poetry, photography, writing, reflection, art, curiosity, and the many ways we make sense of the world.
By visiting the website, creating a member account, or participating in the Iris Miyake community, you agree to these Terms of Use.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not create a member account or participate in the member community.
1. Eligibility for Membership
The public portions of Iris Miyake are available to visitors of all ages.
However, membership and participation in the Iris Miyake community are limited to individuals 18 years of age or older.
By creating a member account, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.
Iris Miyake reserves the right to suspend or remove an account if we have reason to believe that the account belongs to someone under 18.
2. A Peaceful Community
Iris Miyake is intended to be a thoughtful, creative, and welcoming community.
Different opinions, perspectives, backgrounds, and interpretations are welcome.
You do not have to agree with another person to participate here.
However, participation requires respect for other members.
Discuss ideas. Don’t attack people.
3. Community Guidelines
Be respectful.
Treat other members with courtesy, even when you strongly disagree.
No harassment or bullying.
Harassment, intimidation, threats, personal attacks, targeted abuse, or repeated unwanted behavior are not permitted.
No discrimination or hateful conduct.
Content that attacks, threatens, or demeans people on the basis of protected characteristics or identity is not welcome.
Talk about ideas, not people.
Conversation about art, culture, science, writing, experiences, and ideas is encouraged.
Personal gossip, speculation about private individuals, or conversations intended to demean, shame, expose, or target another person are not permitted.
Respect privacy.
Do not share another person’s private, personal, or identifying information without their permission.
Do not use the website to investigate, expose, track, or target another person.
No impersonation.
Do not impersonate another person, organization, or member.
No spam or disruptive behavior.
Do not use the website for spam, scams, malicious activity, or behavior intended to disrupt the community or website.
Keep disagreement constructive.
Disagreement is allowed.
Cruelty is not.
You may challenge an idea, question an opinion, or express a completely different perspective without attacking the person expressing it.
4. Member Accounts
Members are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account information and for activity occurring through their account.
Members should provide accurate information when creating an account and should not create accounts for other people or impersonate another person.

5. Profiles and Personal Information
Members may have the ability to control certain aspects of their profile visibility, depending on the member features and settings available through Wix.
Members should use care when deciding what personal information to include in their profiles or comments.
Do not post personal information belonging to another person without permission.
6. User-Submitted Content
Members may submit comments or other content through available community features.
By submitting content, you remain responsible for the content you post.
You should not submit content that:
violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines;
unlawfully infringes another person’s intellectual-property rights;
contains another person’s private or identifying information without permission;
contains threats, harassment, or targeted abuse;
is intentionally deceptive or impersonates another person; or
is otherwise unlawful or harmful.
Iris Miyake does not claim ownership of your original creative work merely because you post it through the website.
However, by submitting content to a feature that is designed to display that content to other users, you give Iris Miyake the limited permission reasonably necessary to display and operate that content through the website.
7. Moderation
Iris Miyake reserves the right, but does not assume an obligation, to review, moderate, restrict, or remove comments or other member-submitted content.
We may suspend or terminate a member’s access when we believe that the member has violated these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or otherwise engaged in conduct inconsistent with the safety or purpose of the community.
Depending on the circumstances, action may include removing individual content, restricting community participation, temporarily suspending an account, or permanently removing membership.
Our goal is not to police disagreement or require members to think alike.
Our goal is to protect a space where people can participate without being subjected to harassment, hostility, discrimination, threats, or abuse.

If you encounter content or behavior that you believe violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines, you may contact:

Iris Miyake will consider reports in good faith and take action when appropriate.
9. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, the photographs, poems, writings, artwork, design elements, branding, logos, and other original material created or published by Iris Miyake are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws and remain the property of their respective rights holders.
You may view and enjoy the material for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, modify, or commercially exploit Iris Miyake’s original creative work without appropriate permission.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Iris Miyake’s original creative work to you.
10. Respect for Other Members’ Work
Members must also respect the creative work of other members.
Do not copy, reproduce, publish, sell, or otherwise use another member’s original work without appropriate permission or a lawful basis for doing so.
11. Third-Party Services
Iris Miyake is operated using third-party services, including Wix and, where selected by members, third-party authentication services such as Google or Facebook.
Those services are subject to their own terms and policies.
Iris Miyake is not responsible for the independent operation, availability, or policies of third-party services.
12. Website Availability
Iris Miyake strives to keep the website available and functioning properly but cannot guarantee that the website or every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Features may occasionally be changed, suspended, or discontinued.
13. Changes to the Website or These Terms
Iris Miyake may change, update, or discontinue portions of the website or its features from time to time.
These Terms may also be updated to reflect changes to the website, community features, or applicable requirements.
When material changes are made, the updated Terms will be posted on the website with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Nothing published on Iris Miyake should be understood as professional medical, legal, financial, psychological, or other professional advice.
15. Limitation of Responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Iris Miyake and its owner are not responsible for losses or damages arising from a member’s use of the website or interactions with other members, except to the extent such responsibility cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
16. Termination of Membership
You may stop using the website or request that your member account be closed at any time, subject to the capabilities of the platform.
Iris Miyake may suspend or terminate membership when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect the community, protect the website, or comply with applicable law.
